1. Firing pottery was extremely difficult in the 12th century because you could not control how it came out in the end.

2. Tree Ear helped Min with the inlay work by Tree ear helped drain the clay.

3. When crane man said the idea belongs to the world now he mean once a man lets out an idea it is now everybodys idea. For example in the modern world apple invented an iphone and once they said they were going to make the iphone the companies such as verizon started making phones with a lot of apps.

4. Tree ear offered to songdo to deliver Mins work to embassy kim because he wanted to thank mans wife for giving him extra food at the end of each work day and for thanking her to thank her for letting him call her ajima. Also he wanted her to be happy.

5. The advice crane man gave tree ear is " It is only as far as the next village a days walk on your young legs.Your mind knows that you are going to songdoBut you must not tell your body. It must think one hill one valley one day at a time. In that way your spirit will not grow weary before you have even begun to walk”. 6. The reason min refused to teach tree ear how to throw a pot is because the potter business is passed from father to son but mins son died and tree ear is not mins son.

1. firing pots was very hard back then because no fire burned the same. Also people couldn't control the heat or wind so the pots could come out with brown ugly spots.
2.Tree-ear helped with the inlay work by getting lots of clay when ever Min needed it. He also helped by observing how Kang did it and telling it to Min.
3. The quote meant that by telling Min about the inlay work he can use the same idea to. The quote is like modern times because if you hav e a good idea and tell it to someone they could steal it.
4.Tree-ear did that because he wanted to please Ajima. He thought the only way to thank Ajima for her kindness is to make her husband acomplish somthing.
5.On page 93 Crane-man said," No my friend, it is as far as the next village. A days walk on your legs." He is trying to comfert Tree-ear and not make him afraid by going on the long journey.
6.Min refused to teach Tree-ear how to make a pot because the tradition is the who ever is a potter must teach it to there son. Minh's son died and he said to Tree-ear that he is not his son.

1 The firing of pottery was extreme diffulit in those days because if you were the potter you wouldn't be able to control what goes in the kiln and how it comes out.

2 tree ear helped Min because he found the colored clay that was needed and he scoped out the best spots for digging out the colored clay and he drained it really well. And he gathered branches of blossom flowers and put them int he pots to show them what the pots would be used for.

3 crane man meant that the information was no longer secret so he can do whatever he wants now. An example in the modern world is the atomic bomb. We invented it and kept is secret and then used it and the world found out, and now other countries copied it.

4 tree ear offered to go to the emissarsy Kim really because of Ajima. Ajima cares about Min's success and tree ear wants to make her happy.

5 crane man told tree ear that his mind knows he was going a far distance, but he shouldn't tell his body so his body thinks it is only a day's journey away.

6 Min refused to teach tree ear how to make a pot because in the earley days being a potter was usual passed down from father to son, and Min had a son but he died and Min doesn't want to show an orphan, tree ear how to make pots because it reminds him that he doesn't have his own son to teach.

1. Firing pots in the 12th century was extremely hard to do because that was the one thing you did not have control over. You could deciede on the shape, color, size, deshing and how many time you ran it through the strainer. Then when it was time to fire it you couldn't say I want it to be this hot because there was no electricity. Also while it's sitting in the kiln everything could fall apart just because of the way the wind blew.
2. Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work by straining the slip. Cutting the slip from the river bank. Tree-ear also told Min of how to do the inlay work or what Kang was doing to atrack the emissary.
3. I believe when Crane-man says "The idea belongs to the world now" he means that since Kang decided to show everyone what he's been sneaking around to do that it was now out in the open. So anyone can take it and copy it. That's simaliar to when Mr. D says he won't post the blog until the next day because if he posted what everyone said when they said it they could just copy off a good blog.
4. Tree-ear said he would travel to Songdo for Ajima. When he got mad at Min he stated he wasn't doing this trip for Min it was for Ajima because her husbands suscess is the only thing that makes her happy. That is what actully sparked Tree-ear's very bold decision to go to Songdo.
5. Crane-man just the same distance as the nearest town. Just a day on Tree-ear's young, strong legs. That calmed Tree-ear's freaked nerves.
6. Min wouldn't teach Tree-ear how to be a potter because the trade is pased down from father to son. Tree-ear is not his son he is an orphan and nothing more than that in Min's eyes. It has to be passed down generation to generation because along time ago potterary was consiered not an art so it was not a good trade. Many potters didn't have their children take on a different trade. Then when the potters died no one would take over the trade so then there was no potters to make household things. So then a law was made so you hadde to pass it down to your son. So now Min says he won't teach Tree-ear how to make a pot because he's not his son.

1) The firing of pottery in the 12th century was difficult because nobody had any control over the firing. Today we can adjust the temperature and how hot it is but they could not contol it in the 12th century.

2) Tree ear helped Min with the inlay work by fetching the red and white colored slip for him.

3) What Crane man meant by this was that when someone has an idea and makes an invention or an object out of it. For example When Apple came out with apps, when they came out other companies started making things similar to that.

4) Tree ear offered to go to Songdo for Min because of Ajima. He does this because Tree ear knows that Min's success will bring happiness to Ajima.

5) Crane man basically said that keep confident and don't let your spirits down. If he does this he will be there in no time at all.

6) Min refused to teach Tree ear to refuse to make a pot because it was a law that you had to teach your son how to throw pots but since Mins son died, he will never teach Tree ear to throw a pot.

1. The firing of the pottery was extremely difficult in the 12th century because you couldn't always get the look, or color you wanted for your pot.

2. The way Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work was by draining the clay as many times it needed to be. He made sure it felt right and then he knew it was good enough for the pot that would be for the Emissary.

3. When Crane-man said "the idea belongs to the world now" on page 74 I think he meant that Kang displayed his idea to the public so now they have the right to copy it because its no longer a secret.

4. Tree-ear offered to travel to Songdo to deliver Min's work to Emissary Kim because he wanted to thank Ajima for all that she has done for him in the past year.

5. The advice that Crane-man gave to Tree-ear when he was scared of the long journey to Songdo was "Your mind knows that you are going to Songdo, but you must tell your body, its only one hill, one valley, one day at a time."

6. The reason why Min refused to let Tree-ear become a potter was because there is a tradition in Korea that the father passes down their trade to their son, but Min's son died, this is why Tree-ear thinks he has a chance but Min tells Tree-ear he is just a little orphan boy, nothing more.

1. It was so hard fire the pottery because the pot has to be in the exactly right spot and it has to be the exact right temperature, or else the pot will turn out with spots and blotches.
2. tree-ear helped min with his inlay work by needing and draining the clay. Then putting it in the kiln.
3. I think crane-man meant by this is once you tell someone your idea they can go right ahead and steal it or tell someone that might steal it. So he was trying to get across that you should not tell anyone until you’re done with your idea. I can relate to this in the modern world because now there is something called a copy write and because of copy write no one can steal your idea.
4. tree-ear offered to take this long journey because he really wanted Min's work to have as commission, and maybe he is thinking if he delivers it min will consider teaching tree-ear to throw a pot.
5. Crane-man's advice was "one day on village. This is how you will go." meaning you should only walk through one village each day so he does not get weary.
6. Min refused to teach tree-ear to become a potter because there was a law that every potter must teach their son to become a potter. Min once had I son but he died of fever, and does not want to teach tree-ear because he is not his son.

1. The firing was difficult because it was a live fire and no one can control that.
2. Tree-ear helped him by getting the clay, draining it and telling him the idea.
3. He meant that anybody could use the idea of inlay work now because Kang made it public. An example would be Webkinz. Webkinz took the idea of an online world from TY Bennie Baby.
4. Tree-ear offered because Min's success would bring Ajima happiness and that's what Tree-ear wants.
5. His advice was to take it as one valley, one village at a time.
6. He refused because the potter's trade goes from father to son and Min lost his son so he wont teach Tree-ear.

1. The firing of pottery was extremely difficult in the 12th century because it was hard to control the heat. If there was “too rapid a rise in temperature at the start” the vessels would crack (Page 78-79).

2. Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work by preparing the red and white clay to a fine finish in bowls instead of pits. Min was doing very fine and detailed work and the clay had to be perfect. (Page 77).

3. “The idea belongs to the world now.” I think Crane-man’s comment means that since the inlay work was a secret before since he put it out in public the world now knows and can copy it without it being “stolen”. Applying Crane-man’s comment to the modern world would be if someone is working on a project and they don’t want anybody to know, once they release it to show the world, anybody can use the idea. Another example is when apple was making the iPod touch, iphone and ipad, it was top secret and they didn’t want anyone to know about it. But once it was released, people can make take offs of the product. The “Kindle” was first and now Barnes and Noble released the “Nook”.

4. Tree-ear offered to travel to Songdo to deliver Min’s work to Emissary Kim not for Min, but for Ajima because she cares for him, for example, on pages 90 and 91 it says that Ajima will only ask Min if Tree-ear could take the journey to Songdo on two conditions. One, Tree-ear returns to Songdo safely and quickly. The second condition was that he called her Ajima for now on, which meant “Auntie”. So Tree-ear wants to give care and thanks back to her by doing the trip to make Min happy, which makes Ajima happy.

5. The advice that Crane-man gave to Tree-ear was on page 93, it says “Your mind knows that you are going to Songdo. But you must not tell your body. It must think one hill, one valley, one day at a time. In that way, your spirit will not grow weary before you have even begun to walk. “One day, one village. That is how you will go, my friend.”

6. The reason Min refused to help Tree-ear make a pot is, on page 95 it says, “The potter’s trade goes from father to son. I had a son once. My son, Hyung-gu. He is gone now. It is him I would have taught. You-“

1) Firing pottery was difficult in the 12th century because they would have to build a fire and put the pot in it and if it was a windy day then the pot would not fire as well, or when it is cold outside. As to when it is a sunny and nice day out the pot would fire better
2) Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work because Tree-ear would drain the clay for min.
3) I think that Crane-man meant that if you share an idea then that idea will spread. For example when beany babies came out that convinced other people to make a product like that. Like webkinz copied beany babies except with webkinz you can play online too.
4) Tree-ear offered to travel to Songdo to deliver Mins work to emissary Kim because the emassary offered for Min to go to Songdo but Min said no becasue he was an old man and didnt think he could make the journey, so Tree-ear offered to do it for Min.
5) The advice that Crane-man gave to tree-ear for his journey o songdo was that Crane-man told Tree-ear that it wasn’t a long walk and that it was only a one day walk so Tree-ear was relieved and not scared.
6) Min didnt teach Tree-ear how to make a pot because it was tridition to teach your son how to make a pot when he is ready but scince Min's son died of fever. Min didnt want to brak tradition by teaching Tree-ear.

1. It was extremely hard to make pottery in the 12 century because you would have to do physical labor like chopping wood and shoveling clay plus draining the clay.
2. Tree ear helped Min with the inlay work was to spy on Kangs work and then tell Min what he was doing.
3. I think crane man meant was that Kangs idea now is a big hit and people like it more than regular pottery.
4. He wanted to deliver the pottery because Ajima wanted him to do it because it was Min desire for him to do it.
5. The advice is that "Your mind that you are going to Songdo. But you must not tell your body. It must think one hill one valley one day at a time.
6. He refused to teach him how to make a pot because back in ancient Korea you would past things down to your son. Sons were important. And Mins son died so he will not teach anybody else.

1. The firing in the 12th century was hard because they didn't have kilns that we have now that when you want a temperature all you do is push the temperature you want on the side of the kiln and in the 12th century it depends on the wind and how hot the kiln wants to be that day.
2. Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work because when he saw thought that people are going to use the pot so why don't they show the pot like it will be with something in it. Min liked the idea even though he got mad at Tree-ear for getting the wrong amount of blossoms on the flower Tree-ear knew that he was proud with him it was just hard for Min to show his feelings.
3. When Crane-man said "The idea belongs to the world now." Crane-man meant that Kang let people see it so there not stealing because it is not a secret and people can steal if they want. In example of how this happens in the new world is the the I phone, first they didn’t tell anybody about the apps and how you touch the screen with your finger and that’s how it works. Now other phone's have apps and cool new ways to control. So when the secret came out it want a secret so people could take the idea because everybody all ready knows about it.
4. Tree-ear offered to travel to Songdo to give one of Kangs pots to the emissary not for Min but for Mins wife. On page 90 it says that Tree-ear didn't know if he should go to Songdo but he really likes Mins wife and her dream is for her husband to have a successful job. So he only didn’t for Mins wife.
5. Crane-mans advice is that "Your mind knows that you are going to Songdo. But you must not tell your body. It must think one hill, one valley, one day at a time. In that way your spirit will not grow weary before you have even begun to walk." Meaning that he should keep thinking just one mountain, just one valley everyday so that he doesn't back out or get really scared before he even starts his journey. (Page 93)
6. The reason that Min will not teach Tree-ear how to make a pot, because potters are supposed to teach their sons how to make pots and then there sons will teach their kids, and then the chain will keep going on. The problem is that Min doesn't have a son so he can't teach anybody, and he is sticking with the rule of father son and no one else.

1. The firing of pottery was very difficult in the 12th century because it was done with fire. Fire varies in temperature, so potters didn’t know how long to leave their pottery in the kiln. Also, the weather varies. If it was windy, that could change the temperature or the angle the pot was fired at. Nowadays, we have electricity and can set the kiln to the exact temperature we want and know when to take it out. In Tree-ear’s time, however, pottery often came out with spots, or the glaze turned a completely gray.
2. Tree-ear told what colors of slip Min should use- that red and white made black and white. He also gave Min a little bit of confidence, even if Min didn’t want to let him know. When Tree-ear told min how to do the inlay work and told Min that Kang had done flowers, and in my opinion he helped Min be more confident when he told him they where “ugly flowers”. That is what Min wanted to hear.
3. Crane-man meant that once an idea or secret is out, anybody can copy it. In this way, it belongs to everyone in the world because they know about it. This is the same now. For example, when the iphone and ipod touch came out with all their apps, ther people could make the idea their own. Now lots of smartphones have apps. As Crane-man said, once the idea was out it belonged to the world.
4. Tree-ear offered to take Min’s work to Songdo not because of Min, but because of Ajima. He wanted to make her happy, and the only way to do that he could think of was from her husband’s success, or getting a royal commission.
5. Tree-ear was afraid that going to Songdo was too long a trip, so Crane-man told him that it was just the next village, a day’s walk. Songdo was, in fact, very far away, but Crane-man said not to let his body know that. In other words, Crane –man did not want him to lose heart or strength before he even started.
6. Before Tree-ear’s time, being a potter was a poor job and the pottery was onlu used when they needed it, not for beauty. So, all sons of potters ran away from the profession to try something else. So a law was passed that all sons of potters must become potters themselves. Even though the law was most likely not around anymore. But it was probably still a tradition, and Min had a son once, and he did not want to teach Tree-ear as he would have his son.

1. The firing of pottery was extremely difficult in the 12th century because the heat in the kiln was very difficult to control. It needed to heat up slowly the first day then more wood would be added the next day. Finally after three or four days, the kiln would reach the right temperature for firing.

2. Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work by draining the red and white clay to a fine finish for Min to use for the inlay. Also, Tree-ear stayed late to help Min however he could and took extra care in the draining of the clay.

3. When Crane-man said "The idea belongs to the world now," he meant that once the idea is not secret anymore then anyone could use that idea for their own gain. For example, the inventor of the first copy machine took his idea to Xerox where the company made and sold them. After the copy machines were on the market, other companies started to make their own copiers based on the original idea. The mp3 player was also the first of its kind. After it was on the market, other companies took the idea and made their own mp3 players too.

4. Tree-ear offered to travel to Songdo to deliver Min's work to Emissary Kim as a way to thank Min’s wife for her kindness and as a favor to Min since he was too old to travel.

5. The advice that Crane-man gave to Tree-ear to help him deal with his fears about the distance and journey to Songdo was to think about the trip one day at a time and one village at a time so that he didn’t worry about how long the trip would take or how hard it would be on his body.

6. The reason that Min refused to teach Tree-ear to become a potter was because Min believed that the trade of a potter was to be taught by a father to his son. Tree-ear would not
learn from Min since he was not Min’s son.

1. It was very difficult to fire a piece of pottery in the 12th century because you aren’t able to control what the fire does to the pottery. For example, the night might be windy so the fire might blow causing the pottery to change. This is also why Min smashed his pottery because the it might of fired wrong. Today we can set Kiln’s to a specific temperature and get a perfect pot.
2. Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work by before spying on Kang while Kang was putting the inlay work in the kiln and after his idea has been revealed Tree-ear told Min the secret.
3. When Crane-man said “The idea belongs to the world now” he means that when you have revealed something anybody can take it and make it something new. For example, the ipod came out first then came other mp3 players. Another example is, the Nintendo ds came out then the play station portable came out.
4.Tree-ear offered to go to Songdo because on page 90 it states Tree-ear wants to show his gratitude for her kindness but she does not have any desires of her own but she has wishes for her husband so he offered to go to Songdo for Min but really for Agima.
5. The advice Crane-man said to tree-ear was “Your mind knows that you are going to Songdo. But you must not tell your body. It must think one hill, one valley, one day at a time. In that way, your spirit will not grow weary before you have even begun to walk.”
6. Min refused to teach Tree-ear how to make pottery because it is a tradition that you teach your son to be a potter but Min’s son died of fever so Min has no one to teach. Min refuses Tree-ear because he is not Min’s son and Tree-ear is just an orphan boy.

1.The firing of the pottery was extramely difficult because the poters had no control over the kiln they had to rely on luck.
2. Trre-ear helped Min with the inlay work by telling Min the secret to Kang's desighn.
3.What Crane-man ment when he said "The idea belongs to the world now" was that kang as showed his idea to the public so anyone in the world can use it. Crane-man's comment applys to the modern world because when the itouch came out with diffren apps no one had ever thought of that or known about it. When they revealed it into the public companys all over the world started using it.
4. there are a couple reasons that Tree-ear offered to go to Songdo. One was he didn't want Min to miss out on this wonderful opertuinity. The second is he did it for Min's wife(Ajima). She needed help with alot of things and he wanted to repay her. She wanted Min to get the job also.
5. Crane-man's advise to Tree-ear was that you can't always trust people but if you ever are hurt or need aid you can ask for help from them.
6. Min refused to teach Tree-ear to be a potter becausethere used to be a law that all poters must teach there son how to become a potter. even though the law may not exist he likes to follow treadition. By teaching Tree-ear pottery he is not following treadition because Tree-ear is not his son.

1.Firing pottery was extremely difficult in the 12th century because the fire was never exactly the same, and the wind always blew differently, and the temperature was often different. All these aspects made a difference in how the glaze turned out.

2.Tree-ear helped Min with the inlay work by collecting and draining the slip.

3.When Crane-man said, “The idea belongs to the world now.” I think he meant, once somebody shows an idea or new way of doing something to the world, anyone can copy them. An example of this in the modern world is someone created the ipod and now there are many MP3 players similar to an ipod because that person showed their idea to the world.

4.Tree-ear offered to deliver Min’s work to songdo because he liked Min’s wife a lot and he knew her happiness came from her husband’s happiness.

5.The advice Crane-man gave to Tree-ear was that the journey wouldn’t be that long for his young legs.

6.The reason Min would not teach Tree-ear how to fire a pot was because trade is passed down from Father to son and Min was still upset after many years about the death of his son. He did not want Tree-ear to become a replacement for his son.
